Mining Stocks: Transition Metals Corp and Great Bear Resources

Mining stocks are trading high again today on the TSXV. This past year, cannabis stocks have taken over the top trading stocks on the TSX Venture Exchange but that has shifted this week. Many mineral resource companies have announced their latest mining discoveries, which has boosted Canadian-based mining stocks exponentially.

Today, we’ll take a closer look at two of these stocks and their latest company announcements.

Transition Metals Corp (TSXV:XTM)

Transition Metals Corp is a mineral exploration company that holds properties in the US and Canada. The mining company currently has a portfolio of around 25 different projects. Transition Metals mines for gold, nickel, copper, and platinum. The company is headquartered in Sudbury, Ontario.

This morning, the mining stock released the findings at its Highland Gold Project. This project is located in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.

Scott McLean, CEO of Transition Metals, said:

“Bedrock in the Highlands displays a high degree of chemical weathering and oxidation comparable to that developed in a subtropical environment, and to that preserved in the Klondike region of the Yukon […] Since acquiring the property last fall, our work has highlighted numerous exploration targets associated with mineralized structures, prospective alteration and till anomalies that support the potential for a multi-kilometre scale gold system on the property.”

According to Yahoo Finance, XTM remains as one of the top trading mining stocks today on the TSXV. At press time, XTM is trading at $0.135 a share, up +$0.05 (+68.75%).

Great Bear Resources Ltd (TSXV:GBR)

Great Bear Resources is among the top trading mining stocks today but isn’t seeing the same percentage gains Transition Metals is. This has the possibility to change though. The Vancouver, BC-based mineral exploration company is set to host a webinar of its recent mineral findings on January 17th.

Yesterday, the mining company released a 3D model of its gold system at its wholly-owned Dixie project. This webinar is to outline Great Bear’s plans for the project in 2019 and moving forward.

According to Yahoo Finance, GBR is currently trading at $1.98 a share, up +$0.07 (+3.66%).
