GoodGamer Raises $2.5 Million and Reaches 250,000 Registered Users in First Month

GoodGamer

Daily Fantasy Sports and Esports Gaming platform developer Good Gamer Corp. reached an exciting milestone Tuesday and announced the closing of a C$2.5 million seed funding round, which the company plans to use exclusively for user acquisition.

The company revealed that just one month after the launch, its GoodGamer Fantasy gaming app has reached 250,000 registered users. The GoodGamer Fantasy app is a skills-based gaming platform that allows users to enter daily fantasy contests to win real prize money and is  India’s First Dual Daily Fantasy Sports and Esports gaming platform.

“The uptake of our platform by the market has been overwhelming to say the least. We couldn’t be happier with our first month,” said GoodGamer CEO Charles Creighton. “One of my fondest memories will always be sending that first batch of payouts to our daily fantasy winners. To go from that to over 250,000 registered users in less than a month is just exhilarating. Growing pains and late nights have brought our team together and helped create a more cohesive, organized whole. With the help of our seed investors, we’re now able to focus on user acquisition and scale.”

Being the first app in India to offer both daily fantasy sports and esports contests definitely helped with the GoodGamer Fantasy gaming app’s early success. However, the company’s brand influencers also likely played a part.

In preparation for the launch, GoodGamer signed international bowlers Umesh Yadav and Kuldeep Yadav as its brand influencers to mark the return of cricket. Kuldeep Yadav plays for the national team, as well as multiple domestic franchise teams, including Uttar Pradesh and Kolkata Knight Riders, and currently has 500,000 Facebook followers, 1.8 million on Instagram, and 1.2 million on Twitter.

Umesh Yadav is an Indian cricketer that has 10 years of professional experience playing for multiple domestic, T20 league, and national cricket teams. He was the highest wicket-taker for India in the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup and has 5.1 million Facebook followers, 1.7 million Instagram followers, and 2.5 million on Twitter.

The World’s First Fantasy Cricket App to Offer Prop Contests

The app launched in mid-September with cricket and CS:GO, along with a number of exciting features, including prop contests. Unlike traditional daily fantasy sports contests, which can result in a tie, GoodGamer prop contests allow users to use their skills and knowledge to earn points based on specific events during a match that aren’t tied to the final score. Props, short for proposition, is now one of the fastest-growing segments of the US sports gaming industry and is quickly gaining popularity in India.

With GoodGamer’s prop contests, users build a team based not only on how they expect their roster to perform in traditional scoring, but also on the props that are selected for each player (wickets, centuries, etc.), meaning individual prize pools won’t be divided up into as many players and players can maximize their winnings.

“We’re introducing a number of new experiences and skills-based gaming styles that Indian users haven’t seen before, including prop contests,” said Ravi Nagarajachar, GoodGamer’s VP Operations in India. “Not only does the first experience have to be great, but so does the third, fifth, and tenth as our users branch out and try new things within the app. We want to help users find new styles of skills-based games and contests that keep them challenged and entertained.”

In the coming months, GoodGamer also plans to add additional never-before-seen features, including in-depth player injury reports and player injury alerts, an AI-based lineup optimizer, and private contests that allow the contest creators to earn commission for creating and managing the contests.

The GoodGamer Fantasy gaming app also offers users the chance to earn additional money through the Refer-a-Friend program, which allows them to earn up to ₹100 cash bonus for each referral and a 5% cash bonus if their referred friend deposits up to ₹1000 cash bonus.
