SunPower (NASDAQ:SPWR) will be putting in a 10-kilowatt solar power system into Bridge House, a home that is being built by the architect Dan Brunn to be net-zero energy compliant. This installation will allow the building to produce as much energy (via the solar panel rooftop) as it consumes.
“Beautiful, clean energy systems are the way of the future in custom homes,” said Brunn, “SunPower’s Equinox home solar system on Bridge House effortlessly complements the creation of a waste-free, net-zero energy home. The unique and holistic solar solution naturally fits the home’s design integrity, while powering my day-to-day activities with the sun.”
The house is expected to be completed by 2018 and will be an example for people everywhere for how a green home should be custom built. It will also demonstrate that having an eco-home is not only possible but is also incredibly easy. SunPower’s Equinox solar system will just be one of the many innovative green devices being put into the house.
The SunPower Equinox solar system incorporates SunPower’s high-efficiency solar panels, integrated microinverters, the aesthetically innovative mounting system, and the EnergyLink ecosystem technology that can monitor energy production in real-time.
“SunPower is proud to power Bridge House with the most efficient panels on the market, mirroring Brunn’s minimalist approach with sleek and powerful solar,” said Martin DeBono, SunPower’s Executive Vice President for residential solar. “Our goal is to deliver unbeatable solar power, long-term performance, and elegant curb appeal for all of our residential customers.”
