Healthcare stocks falling today. The markets are seeing a lot of red today. Not only are cannabis stocks dropping, but we’re also seeing a few healthcare stocks struggle to keep their heads above the surface today. To top it off, the healthcare industry was actually performing reasonably well earlier this week. So, what happened?
What Happened Friday?
Looking at the trending tickers of the day, you’ll see a number of healthcare stocks falling. Most of the stocks, such as Bellicum Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:BLCM), are trading below 5% however. That is, except for InspireMD, Inc (NYSE:NSPR)
On Tuesday, InspireMD was trading up nearly 20% after the small-cap company announced that its CGuard Embolic Prevention System was one of the systems featured at the Leipzig Interventional Course. The stock likely jumped because it was the first time InspireMD’s system was featured in a live case transmission. After the Israel-based company made the announcement, the stock was trading at $0.22 at one point during the trading day.
To be featured in the Leipzig Interventional Course is a big deal, which is why it made considerable sense earlier in the week when the stock started increasing after investors learned of the live case transmission. Yet, InspireMD made a similar announcement two days ago, and the stock is now seeing red instead of green.
Currently, InspireMD is trading at $0.21, which puts the stock down $0.02, or 6.74%. The stock can be seen moving around quite a bit, trading down as much as 13% in the morning and then dropping to 9%. Personally, I wouldn’t have expected the stock to be trading down today, since InspireMD announced on Wednesday that the CGuard Embolic Prevention System had been used once again in another live case transmission.
Perhaps the stock’s drop was caused by the fact that today is the last day of the Leipzig Interventional Course and investors are slowly coming down from the high they felt when InspireMD announced the first feature of the system.
