Trump Once Again Takes to Twitter to Up the Ante with North Korea

Over the course of the past 96 hours, President Donald Trump has been in the news three times. Each time was for over-the-top comments directed at the erratic regime of North Korea.

On Tuesday, the 45th president advised that “North Korea best not make any more threats to the United States,” adding: “They will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen.”

Then, on Thursday, continuing with the war of words, Trump said his previous comments might not have been enough. “If anything, maybe that statement wasn’t tough enough and we are backed 100% by our military. We are backed by everybody and we are backed by many other leaders,” he said.

This morning, Trump once again took to Twitter to taunt North Korea: “Military solutions are now fully in place, locked and loaded, should North Korea act unwisely. Hopefully Kim Jong Un will find another path!”

If we were to take one thing away from the last four days – other than that we might be on the verge of a nuclear war – it is that the majority of what Trump does has to do with projecting strength. He never lets someone have the last word, and he uses purposefully provocative language to get under his opponent’s skin. Don’t be surprised though, this is what Trump did throughout the 2016 presidential campaign.

All in all, Donald Trump is a provocateur and he will say things he knows will be controversial and will get a rise out of out people. We can only hope that this mentality doesn’t lead to a full-blown nuclear war with Norea Korea.
