Cannabis Watch: We take a closer look at cannabis companies and how they performed in the markets for the day.
Today’s companies will be Aphria Inc. (TSX:APH) (OTCQB:APHQF) and Emerald Health Therapeutics Inc. (TSXV:EMH) (OTCQX:EMHTF).
Aphria is a producer and seller of medical cannabis in the Canadian cannabis industry. Located in Ontario, Aphria is undergoing a huge expansion process to gear up for the legalization of recreational use of cannabis in Canada.
Aphria trades on several markets. We will focus first on its performance in the American market and then on its performance in the Canadian cannabis space.
Aphria closed at $11.15 today on the OTCQB. This put the cannabis company down $0.22, or 1.96%, from the previous closing price of $11.37. The day’s trading ranged between $11.07 and $11.54, compared to the 52-week trading that has ranged between $3.40 and $19.87.
In comparison, on the Toronto Stock Exchange, Aphria closed at $14.12. This put the company down $0.33, or 2.28%, from the previous closing price of $14.45. The day’s trading ranged between $14.07 and $14.69, while the 52-week trading has ranged between $4.55 and $24.75.
Comparatively speaking, Aphria performed fairly equally in both the American and Canadian markets; however, percentage-wise the company performed slightly better on the OTCQB.
Emerald Health Therapeutics Inc.
Emerald Health Therapeutics is another mover in the Canadian cannabis scene. The company produces and sells dried cannabis flower and cannabis oil for medical purposes.
Emerald Health is also on multiple exchanges. We’ll start with its performance on the OTC market first.
The company closed the day on the American market at $4.4779, which just managed to edge out Emerald Health’s performance yesterday. The company’s stock was up $0.0009, or 0.02%, from the previous closing price of $4.477. However, it was still not an ideal day for Emerald Health; the company opened at $4.51, which means it’s down 0.71% for the day itself.
On the TSXV, Emerald Health ended the day on a high. The company closed at $5.70, which put it up $0.05, or 0.88%, from the previous closing price of $5.65. However, it was $0.05 down from the opening price of $5.75.
Overall, Emerald Health performed a little better, percentage-wise, in the Canadian market than in the American market.
